What is colon hydrotherapy?
Colon hydrotherapy is a gentle, controlled infusion of warm, filtered water into the colon to support hydration and promote the loosening and elimination of waste. It assists the body’s natural peristalsis and is performed using FDA-registered equipment by a trained colon hydrotherapist.
-
No. Enemas cleanse only the lower portion of the colon. Colon hydrotherapy uses repeated cycles of gentle water infusion and release to hydrate the colon and support waste elimination more effectively throughout its entire length (5-6ft).
-
Supports hydration of the colon

Helps with issues of occasional constipation
Assists elimination through natural peristalsis
Is an FDA-approved method of colonoscopy preparation
-
Colon hydrotherapy is not a medical treatment. It cannot be advertised or implied to detoxify, cure, treat, or address any disease or condition. The benefits we describe are strictly hydration, loosening of waste, and assisting natural elimination.
-
Everyone is different and colonics help some people more than others. Rectify Health does not make any promises or wild claims for our treatments. The best way to find out if they will benefit you is to book a treatment and see for yourself.
-
Yes. When performed by a properly trained professional using FDA-registered equipment, colon hydrotherapy is considered to be safe. The device is disinfected after each session, and only single use, disposable speculum/tubing kits are used.
-
Here at Rectify Health we use a structured water filtration system that supplies water to our entire center. We know of no other colon hydrotherapy centers who utilize this technology. In addition to that, the water goes through another built-in, triple-filtration system just before entering the device.
-
It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. Your session is strictly a wellness service focused on hydration and waste elimination.
-
Yes, certain medical conditions would prevent you from having the therapy. These are called contraindications. Please review the full list prior to booking. (Click here.) Some health conditions require postponing or avoiding colon hydrotherapy. You’ll complete a thorough intake form so we can determine safety prior to your session. When medically appropriate, clearance from a healthcare provider may be required.

Colon hydrotherapy should not be painful. You may feel slight discomfort during insertion of the speculum and a brief urge to expel it, which typically passes within seconds. Sessions are designed to be gentle, and most clients describe the experience as refreshing and relaxing.
Your therapist carefully controls the flow of water throughout the session to maintain your comfort at all times. At times, the colon may naturally contract, creating a temporary cramping sensation. This is generally well tolerated and resolves as the bowel empties.
If you have a colon that is holding a significant amount of waste material, you may occasionally experience mild nausea or sensations of release as the body responds to the elimination process. Should you experience more discomfort than feels tolerable, the session may be paused or stopped at any time at your request.
Most clients report sensations of fullness, followed by release and relief.
-
No. Please don’t be embarrassed. Your privacy and dignity are central to the experience. You are covered at all times, except during the insertion of the speculum, which only takes a few seconds. Everything is performed professionally and respectfully.
-
No. Everything is contained within a closed system in which waste is safely and hygienically evacuated directly through the plumbing, with no mess and no lingering odors.

Clients often feel best when they:
Hydrate well the day before
Eat light, simple meals
Avoid heavy, greasy foods
Avoid alcohol 24 hours in advance
It is best to refrain from eating at least 3 hours prior to the session and to be as hydrated as possible before your session. However, it is advisable not to drink any fluids at least an hour prior to your arrival so you won’t have the urge to urinate while in session.
Detailed preparation instructions will be included in your confirmation email.
-
You can generally figure that it’ll take about an hour when you figure 40 – 45 minutes for the session itself, plus the time it takes to change and use the restroom. Your first session will take about 90 minutes due to the therapist needing to review your medical history, assess your current bowel health, and answer any questions before proceeding with your therapy.
-
Gentle activity, continued hydration, and light meals are recommended, but most clients return to normal activity immediately, as you would after having a regular bowel movement.
-
Most people report feeling great after a Colonic. However, occasionally some clients may feel a little under-the-weather for around 24 hours. If you have any concerns, or you feel unwell, speak to your therapist who will be able to explain your body’s reactions to you.
-
After a Colonic, you can continue with your daily routine. It is recommended that you eat cleanly and avoid foods that are hard on your digestive system. Your therapist will offer advice on healthy eating options to help you maintain the benefits you have gained from the treatment.
-
This depends on your reason for having a Colonic in the first place, and will vary on an individual basis. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and make recommendations tailored to your needs. In the case you may require several sessions to get the desired effect, there are various discounted packages available to you.
-
Essentially, you should have a bowel movement after every meal. Which, in most cases, equates to 2-3 times per day given a healthy eating plan which includes 30-40g of fiber daily and adequate hydration.

Colon hydrotherapy is not intended to alter or treat the gut microbiome. Its focus is on gentle hydration and waste removal. Gut bacteria are influenced primarily by diet, lifestyle, and overall health.

Rectify Health uses an FDA-registered, closed-system colon hydrotherapy device designed for professional use. Specifically, we use the Aquanet EC-2000, which uses a patented dual mode technology allowing the practitioner to effortlessly switch between pressure mode with APST™* and gravity mode with LEGT™* during a treatment. This allows practitioners to fine-tune the treatment to an individual client’s needs allowing for a more comfortable treatment.
Closed systems allow continuous water flow and controlled waste removal in a private, sanitary manner.
*Applied Pressure Sensing Technology (APST™) system to regulate pressure and flow rate. APST™ senses pressure as it builds in the colon and bypasses as the pressure approaches 2 psi, never allowing the pressure in the colon to exceed 2 psi while still maintaining a high flow rate. The result is much more thorough clearing of debris with greater safety and comfort than other pressure operated colon hydrotherapy equipment.
*Low Elevation Gravitational Technology (LEGT™). LEGT™ uses a small amount of water elevated at a specific height to create 1 psi of pressure. This allows for a gentle gravity-fed introduction of water at a maximum of 1 psi into the colon.
